They Say It's Your Birthday

Ian's birthday fell on a Monday, which in the Gilbert house is not a good day. Brett goes to school really early, and doesn't get home till really late. Because of this, we decided to celebrate Ian's birthday in stages. Stage one: open presents. Ian is really into dinosaurs right now, (which is kind of funny, if you remember how he reacted to them at Christmas time). Because of this, and the growing numbers in his dinosaur collection, Brett decided to get Ian this dinosaur tent we found. Once we got the tent, Brett decided that none of Ian's dinosaurs were big enough, and we needed to remedy the situation. So, Ian ended up with the biggest dinosaur we could find. Ian, of course, loved the thing and immediately turned to show Brett his "dinosaur smile."

One of the other things Ian likes to do, is play dress up. Since we don't own any dress up clothes, he usually just plays dress up while at a friend's house. Unfortunately, they are all girls, which means he is always putting on dresses, high heels, and things (don't tell Brett!). Grandma Lana to the rescue! She sent Ian the cutest little Doctor dress up set.

As well as a Policeman set.

Much better! Just like his Papa. My parents sent Ian this amazing trampoline. I knew that as soon as the boys figured out what it was, they would want it set up immediately. So I had Brett put it together the night before, and we wrapped it in blankets. It was a good thing we did, there is no way they could have waited the 45 minutes it took Brett to set it up.

The best thing about this trampoline, by far, is the timer. It counts how many times you jump. Makes it easy for the kids to take turns, without me constantly breaking up fights. When Ian was tired of bouncing, and he was full of pancakes, he decided he wanted to watch his new dinosaur movie: The Land Before Time. He asked Brett to put it on for him, and he and his new dinosaur cuddled up on the couch.

I have to say, stage one of Ian's birthday was a complete success!

I've seen a lot of dolls with blankets on them, but never dinosaurs! That is THE cutest thing I've ever seen! Well, that and Ian in all his dress-up outfits too. I love that little boy!
