Choo Choo!!!
Because the countdown to Brett leaving has begun, he has been trying to spend as much quality time with the boys as possible. A week ago (I know it has been a while since I posted) Brett decided to pull out all of our blue trains and spend the day playing with the boys. This, of course, made the boys incredibly happy, since they are not allowed to play with them by themselves yet. Brett, having decades of experiences building these trains, knows that no 2- or 4-year-old would be able to wait the 4 hours it takes to build a proper layout. Because of this, Brett decided to build a basic layout and expand every half hour or so.
He even let the boys place some of the easier pieces, which added to the overall difficulty of the project. The boys were having so much fun, they refused to stop to eat lunch and demanded I make them corn dogs so they could eat and work at the same time.
After a few hours, Brett decided to take the boys outside to enjoy one of our first warm days of the year. The boys had been begging to go outside and play with chalk, but the weather hadn't cooperated.
(The lake you see in the background was still frozen, and it was April 13!) The boys sat and colored for a while, and then Brett made a train track with the chalk and two trains. Once the trains were on the patio, the boys had to go for a ride.
This meant sitting on the trains and scooting around the track.
After they were done, their little bums were rainbow-colored from all the chalk. I had to send those pajamas through the wash twice to get all the chalk out!!
