Ian really, really wanted to "ride in a bobsled," but we knew that would be impossible, so we settled on trying to just find a bobsled to sit in. What we found was even better! Outside, we found two bobsleds for the boys to sit in.
Once we got inside, we told one of the workers how excited Ian was to sit in a bobsled, and she asked if Ian would like to see what it's like to ride in one. She led him over to a virtual reality bobsled simulator, complete with wind that blows in your face! The track, of course was the same one as outside.
Ian was really excited, and ended up doing it several times before we left.Next, the worker told us that there were some kids in "grade 6" who would be going down the luge track that morning. She asked Ian if he would like to see what it's like to ride the luge. Ian jumped at the chance. The lady first outfitted him.
And then she simulated all of the track turns while yelling out their names while tipping Ian from side to side.
Colin then got to have a crack at the skeleton while the lady did the same for him.
When we were done playing around inside, we headed out the track to watch the "grade 6-ers" zoom down the track at 70+ km/hr (which is metric for "fast").
After watching the kids go down, Colin and Ian said that they wanted to come back and give it a try themselves when they were a bit older.
We'll see!
