Cleanup on Aisle One

At the boys' school, they have a section of the room that is devoted to pretend play. The theme rotates. First it was a kitchen, then it was a doctors office, and now it is a grocery store. For some reason, this theme is really resonating with the boys. For Valentine's day, the boys each got some money from Gran and Papa (Jackson). We used it to get the Cranium Shop and Match game. For Ian's birthday last year, he got a cash register and a shopping cart, so the only thing we were missing was the scanner. We set up a little grocery store in the living room, and the boys took turns being the customer and the cashier.

Ian, of course, never wanted to be the customer, because that meant giving up the scanner. Colin was a good sport and would go as fast as he could when it was his turn to scan.

We ended up playing for close to an hour! I have never seen my boys play make believe for that long, ever. (Unfortunately I couldn't find the camera till Colin had given up playing, so I don't have any pictures of them together. Maybe next time.)
